City introduce 'Self-Destruct Cups' at Ashton Gate.

ℹ️ WHY SELF-DESTRUCT CUPS?

The cup is designed to be recycled but unlike other plastics, if it is leaked into the environment it will turn into an earth-friendly wax within two years - leaving no toxins or microplastics.

Fans are being asked to help us care for our city and boost recycling rates by taking three key steps:

1. Segregate your waste

• New red bins across Ashton Gate are for clean plastic waste only. Please place your empty cups (including self-destruct cups), bottles and other plastic in these
• New white bins will be for non-plastics only. This waste will be segregated off-site and recycled where possible with any non-recyclable materials converted into energy

2. Find a bin

• When you leave your seat please take your waste with you and use the correct concourse bins. Please don’t leave waste on ledges or sinks.
• This will help us ensure your waste is correctly recycled

​3. Respect our city

• When coming to games please use public bins or bring your waste to the stadium and use the bins at the site entrances
• After the game please finish your food or drink and place all waste in stadium bins before you leave site
• BS3 is amazing. Colliter’s Brook runs through the site, flows into the Avon and out to sea. We are surrounded by parks where our children play, a wonderful harbour and the stunning Avon Gorge. Please take pride in this and keep our city clean

The new cups and bins arrive on the back of recently being ranked as the Championship’s most sustainable club.

Gavin Marshall, Club Director, said “We considered the sustainability merits of numerous cups carefully and there is no perfect solution. Given our proximity to parks and waterways, it was important that our cups are easily recycled and won’t remain as plastic if leaked into the environment.

"By providing new bins and simplified waste segregation we hope to recycle as much of our waste as possible and would like to thank fans in advance for helping us work towards this goal.”
