City launch Project Whitebeam.

As part of this initiative, the Robins have signed up to the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework which sets us a target of reaching net zero by 2040 and meeting a 50% reduction in our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Project Whitebeam will not only address climate change but also waste, water, biodiversity and air quality.

We are mindful that many of our fans attend matches in their leisure time but it is our firm belief that we can progress without compromising any of the pleasure or joy which brings us together. Instead, Project Whitebeam will seek to find exciting opportunities and benefits for our fans, community and club as we start our journey together towards a better and more sustainable future.

Together, we have already started to make positive changes…

• Ashton Gate generates over 100,000kWh of electricity though solar panels on the Lansdown stand roof, uses energy efficient lighting, has water saving devices and maximises efficiency with modern Building Management System
• The Robins HPC meets over 90% of its overall energy using air source heat pumps and is a zero gas facility
• City fans won the inaugural Pledgeball League by making pledges to cut 432,731kg of carbon
• Over 50% of stadium food and drink travels less than 12 miles to Ashton Gate
• Stadium waste is zero to landfill
• Surplus matchday food is donated to a women’s homeless shelter less than a mile away
• Ashton Gate has hosted a FareShare warehouse for over two years, providing 4.67m meals for those living with food insecurity – diverting over 132 tonnes of food from landfill in the process and saving 52 tonnes of carbon
• Subsidised bus travel to Ashton Gate transported football, rugby and concert fans a total of 664,000km in the last year
• We have worked with GWR to provide additional post-match services from our closest railway station, Parson Street
• In addition to our 96 cycle parking spaces and free-to-use bike pump behind the South Stand, we also provide a special parking area for Big Issue e-Bikes at the Ashton Road end and host free bike repair workshops
• Our Hummel kits use ECO8 Technology which means there are eight recycled plastic bottles in every shirt as well as ZEROH20 dry-dye technology which saves water and cuts energy consumption by 50%
• We have partnered with WWF for World Wildlife Day, highlighting a world without nature and have worked with the British Hedgehog Society where we currently sit second in the Hedgehog Football League
• Vegetarian and Vegan options are available at all concession outlets inside Ashton Gate
• Our groundstaff have planted 290m2 of wildflowers adjacent to the Robins HPC
• Our players and staff have access to electric car charging points at the Robins HPC

Nevertheless, the club recognise that there is much more to do and look forward to bringing fans, staff and partners along the journey together.
