Abi Harrison took her tally for the season to 21 but the Robins couldn’t get a further breakthrough to deny the Londoners a move into second place in the table.

🧐 BACKGROUND

Head Coach Lauren Smith made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Coventry United in their last outing with Sophie Whitehouse and first time starter Maddi Wilde coming into the side in place of Fran Bentley and Lia Cataldo.

Flo Allen was named on the bench is her last home game for the club after announcing her retirement to pursue further opportunities at the end of the season.

✍️ WHAT HAPPENED?

It was a first half to forget for City who were 1-0 down inside the first 10 minutes when a ball bounced back off Brooke Aspin and Atlanta Primus struck a half-volley beyond Whitehouse.

Rodgers made the task harder four minutes later when she scored from the penalty spot after Satara Murray had brought down Lilly Agg inside the box.

Harrison pulled a goal back in the 33rd minute when she reacted quickest to Chloe Bull’s corner and steered the ball into the net but she was unable to finish off another chance two minutes later.

The Robins continued to come under pressure and the Lionesses grabbed their third goal when Whitehouse was caught in two minds to come off her line and Karin Miya finished off.

⏱ HALF-TIME

The start of the second half followed a similar pattern with City under pressure and Whitehouse did well to push Lilly Agg’s strike past the post.

Smith made two double substitutions in the 58th and 75th minutes with Naomi Layzell and Gwen Davies replacing Wilde and Jas Bull and then Flo Allen and Jess Woolley taking over from Aspin and Mel Johnson.

Woolley almost got on the end of a Ffion Morgan cross but it wasn’t to be the Robins day.
