The Robins were heading towards a defeat after an 82nd minute goal from Eleanor Ryan-Doyle before Clinton – who arrived in BS8 on loan from Manchester United just 24 hours earlier – headed in Aimee Palmer’s free-kick in the 93rd minute.

And there was more drama when Jodie Hutton’s thunderbolt cross picked out Harrison, who headed in for the deciding score with seven added minutes on the clock.

✍️ BACKGROUND

Seventeen-year-old Mari Ward made her full debut while Head Coach Lauren Smith handed a first start to new loan signing Gracie Pearse and also included fellow new recruit Clinton on the bench.

📝 WHAT HAPPENED?

City started sharply with Ward combining with Shania Hayles testing Khiara Keating in the Coventry goal after just two minutes.

And it didn’t take long for the Robins to get on the scoresheet with Chloe Bull reacting quickest to a defensive mix-up and volleying past the stranded Keating.

City almost made it two three minutes later when Harrison put Hayles clear but her shot was saved by Keating, who also stood up to Ward after she dribbled her way into a shooting position.

⏱️ HALF-TIME

The Robins began the second half as they ended the first with Harrison firing a cross in for Bull, who got a shot away but wide and over, while Harrison also sent a low ball across goal but Hayles couldn’t get to it.

Coventry United pulled a goal back when Ryan-Doyle latched on to a low shot and put the ball past Fran Bentley.

Smith used five substitutes in the space of 11 minutes midway through the half in an effort to restore City’s lead.

And the Robins threw everything at the visitors in a dramatic final flourish that saw Clinton and Harrison find the net with their headers.
