City Women's Under-21s won the inaugural Gloucestershire FA Women's Senior Cup as they came from behind to beat Cheltenham Town Women 2-1.
Second half goals from Maya Kendell and Maddie Durrant secured victory for the Robins, after Cheltenham had taken the lead in the first half.
Cheltenham Town started the stronger of the two sides, testing Ella Stowell early on. And, they got their just reward 10 minutes in. Doris Greenwood’s pass found Una Lue who fired home her 23rd goal of the season.
Just a minute later, Stowell pulled off an excellent save as Lue found herself close to doubling their lead.
Just past the half hour mark, Isabel Hebard was forced to leave the field due to injury and was replaced by Freya Sherwood.
It was just a couple of minutes until the break, when City levelled the score. A throw in caused havoc in the Cheltenham box and Maya Kendell fired home a thunderous strike into the back of the net.
After the break, City came out strong and took the lead just two minutes into the second half. A through ball from Kendell found Durrant who made no mistake with the finish when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Ten minutes from time, Fearne Slocombe was replaced by Emily Cadell.
Some late heroics from Stowell and a late sin bin visit for Cheltenham’s Lue, ensured City saw out added time and secured the inaugural Gloucestershire FA County Cup final.
