What Happened?
City Women were dealt an early blow when Lucy Graham had to be substituted after six minutes due to an eye injured sustained from a high boot courtesy of Sarah Robson.
Bristol City Women started the brighter of the two sides and created the more clear cut chances in the first-half, Carla Humphrey tried her luck from range on multiple occasions but her efforts were comfortably dealt with by Hannah Reid.
Humphrey then picked out Heather Payne for the best opportunity of the half as the winger latched on to a perfectly weighted through ball from the midfielder, but Hannah Reid stood tall and denied Payne’s one-on-one effort.
Durham Women got the breakthrough just after the hour mark as Lisa Robertson got on the end of Zoe Ness’ through ball and tucked the ball into the far corner of the Bristol City Women net.
As the second half progressed City Women failed to trouble Reid in the Durham goal and it would be Robertson who would double the visitors lead in the closing stages.
Rachel Lee dispossessed the City Women defence and tee’d up Lisa Robertson, who caught Sophie Baggaley off her line and made it 2-0.
