Match Report

Report: Bristol City Women 0-4 Aston Villa Women.

08 Jun 2026BCW Media Team

What happened?

The Robins tested their luck against Villa’s high defensive line early on as they attempted multiple through balls for Ebony Salmon to run on to, however Lisa Weiss was alert and the ‘keeper cleared any potential danger.

Villa’s high press paid off just before half time when Emma Follis won the ball in a dangerous position and her deep cross from the left was swept in by Ramona Petzelberger, putting her side 1-0 up.

Substitute Abi Harrison almost made an instant impact off the bench when her drilled cross into the box was parried into the path of Wellings, however her shot was well blocked on the line to deny City an equaliser.

Villa charged up the other end and doubled their lead. Shania Hayles used her strength well when chasing down the ball inside the box and the forward squeezed her shot past Baggaley from the tightest of angles to put her side two up.

A third followed shortly after when Hayles made her way into the box and fizzed a cross to the back-post for Petzelberger to get her second.

Hayles got Villa’s fourth and her second of the night when her powerful shot from the left of the box was drilled into the bottom corner.

Purfield tried her luck from range late on, however Weiss was quick to react and parry the shot wide at her near post.

City tried their best to find a consolation goal late on but nothing fell their way as the full-time whistle went.
