Match Report

Report: Bristol City Women 0-4 West Ham United.

08 Jun 2026BCW Media Team

What happened?

After a positive start from City, it was West Ham who took the lead 10 minutes in.

Jemma Purfield was unfortunate to see a goal-line clearance from Yana Daniels ricochet off the back of her and trickle into the net to put the visitors ahead.

Evans thought she had leveled the game minutes later when she turned in Jemma Purfield’s cross with a delicate finish into the bottom corner, however the linesman deemed the centre-half offside to deny City the equaliser.

The visitors doubled the lead with a swift counter-attack 15 minutes after the restart. A long ball played over the top was hunted down by Kenza Dali, and her dinked cross into the box was cushioned on the volley into the bottom left corner by Emily Van Egmond.

A brilliant save from Baggaley denied Van Egmond her second when she powered through the midfield, however West Ham turned in their third moments later when Rachel Daly’s towering header found the top corner from the former’s cross.

Martha Thomas made it four for the Hammers with five minutes of normal time remaining when a mazy run from Grace Fisk put her through on goal, however she opted to square the ball to Martha Thomas who drilled her shot into the bottom corner.

City came close near the death through Salmon and Harrison, but some solid defending from the Irons backline prevented any sort of consolation goal for the Robins.
