City ran out 2-1 winners over Charlton Athletic as Lexi Lloyd-Smith and Libby Bance found the net.

Lloyd-Smith bagged her seventh of the season in the sixth minute before Bance netted a first goal in red 12 minutes later, while former City player Jodie Hutton hit back before the break.

Ffion Morgan had the first chance of the afternoon as she raced through on goal after five minutes, but a heavy touch allowed Sophie Whitehouse to charge off her line to smother the ball.

Just a minute later though, City took the lead as Mari Ward got in down the right and Lloyd-Smith popped up at the front post to head her cross home.

With 18 minutes on the clock, Bance made it two as she connected with Jamie-Lee Napier's cut-back to find the bottom corner.

Though City dominated the half, the hosts would pull one back shortly before the break as Hutton met a loose ball from a corner and bounced a strike into the net.

Ward forced a good save from Whitehouse with City's first chance of the second half, trying her luck from a tight angle after 53 minutes.

Substitute Abi Harrison went close late on with a well-struck effort that flashed wide of the mark.
