The young Northern Ireland forward struck the perfect set piece to fire City into a half-time lead.

Connor Wickham's overhead kick levelled the scores in the second half, before the striker received his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

The match at Copers Cope - Palace's training ground - saw the home side enjoy much of the play but struggled to find a way through a resilient City setup.

Their pressure almost told after an hour when Levi Lumeka saw a shot blocked before Alhaji Sesay was quick to deny Joel Ward on the follow-up.

Wickham made no mistake with his bicycle kick, to rescue a point for the Eagles, in front of first team manager Roy Hodgson too.

But it was a moment to forget when he picked up two yellow card in quick succession late on with the home side holding on for the point.

City: Alhaji Sesay, Chris Turner-Williams, Jayden Ali, Aaron Parsons, Harvey Smith, Tom Harrison, Rory Holden, Joe Hall, Shawn McCoulsky, Ricardo Rees, Will Gould.
