City picked up a valuable point on the road with a draw against Everton with Amy Rodgers and Amalie Thestrup on the scoresheet.
Martina Piemonte and Megan Finnigan put the hosts ahead twice, but City pegged them back on both occasions through a Rodgers thunderbolt and Thestrup’s fourth goal of the campaign.
Lauren Smith made two changes to the side beaten by Aston Villa last time out, with Jamie-Lee Napier replacing Rachel Furness and Liv Clark coming in for the injured Kaylan Marckese between the sticks.
Everton took the lead early on after an uneventful opening five minutes, when Clark could only push Piemonte’s initial effort back into the path of the Toffees striker, who swept home from close range.
The hosts had a number of half-chances as City struggled to get a foot-hold on the game, but none of them came to fruition.
Smith’s side then began to grow into the game as the half went on, winning a number of corners on the right-hand side, but Courtney Brosnan did well on numerous occasions to punch the ball away from danger.
It was a corner from the other side which caused the Everton ‘keeper the most problems however as Megan Connolly’s whipped delivery almost went straight in, clipping the bar on its way through.
Piermonte teed up Aurora Galli for a shot on goal from range, but she saw her effort deflected behind for a corner, which was defended well by City.
The Robins equalised as the game entered a minimum of two additional minutes, as Abi Harrison found Amy Rodgers on the edge of the area, and the Scot hammered an unstoppable shot past Brosnan and into the back of the net.
Everton came flying out the blocks after the break and Katja Snoeijs nicked the ball from Connolly before finding Piemonte in space, but her shot was miscued and cleared.
The ball dropped kindly for Harrison 35 yards from goal, but she was unable to trouble Brosnan with her audacious half-volley.
Ella Powell did well to burst past two Everton defenders before dragging back a cross towards the onrushing Amalie Thestrup, but the hosts were able to clear in the nick of time.
Finnigan put the hosts ahead just before the hour-mark, when Nicoline Sorensen’s cross rattled the crossbar before the ball landed at the feet of the Everton skipper, who fired past Clark from the edge of the area.
Clark kept City in the game, doing incredibly well to tip Sorensen’s goalbound shot past the post.
Ffion Morgan used her pace to beat her marker on the right before she swung a lovely ball across the face of goal for Thestrup, who didn't quite get the connection she desired, and her effort was comfortable for Brosnan.
Morgan was instrumental again as City pushed for an equaliser, beating the Everton full-back in a foot-race before seeing her shot saved at the near-post.
City got a deserved equaliser when Thestrup latched onto Layzell’s through-ball to loft the ball over Brosnan and into the back of the net for her fourth of the season. Layzell had done remarkably well in the build-up to win the ball back before finding the Dane in-behind.
Neither side had any clear cut opportunities in the final 10 minutes as City stood strong to take an important point back to BS3.
