Atlanta Primus found the net twice after the break as the hosts raced into a two-goal lead less than 10 minutes after the restart.
✍️ BACKGROUND
Lauren Smith made one change to the side that beat Durham at the Robins High Performance Centre a week ago as Aimee Palmer returned to the side in place of Rachel Furness.
📝 WHAT HAPPENED?
Fran Bentley was called into action after eight minutes as she produced a really smart stop to deny Atlanta Primus on the volley from just inside the area.
Just five minutes later City were forced to do some more last-ditch defending as Abi Harrison cleared off the line following a London City corner.
Sixteen minutes into the encounter and the Robins were again forced into defensive action as Bentley, Harrison and Vicky Bruce made blocks on the line and scrambled the ball clear once again.
The first chance for Smith's side came through Harrison as she drove in from the left before lashing an effort into the side netting.
With 10 minutes of the half to play, Harrison's footwork allowed her space to shoot from the edge of the area, but she couldn't find the target.
⏱️ HALF-TIME
Just two minutes after the restart, London City Lionesses broke the deadlock through Atlanta Primus as she smashed a loose ball into the bottom corner.
And just five minutes later, the lead was doubled as Primus lashed home a very similar finish.
Bruce was forced to make a brave block with 20 minutes to play as she got in the way of Sarah Ewens powerful effort.
Bentley was called upon once more before the full-time whistle as she dived away to her left to clear the danger from a corner.
