City fell to a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United as Lauren Smith's side had a player sent off late on.
Lisa Naaslund scored twice for the Red Devils, one at either end of the 90 minutes, while the Robins struck the woodwork at the other end.
The hosts took the lead early on in a quiet first half as Naalsund fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the area after nine minutes.
City's first opening came five minutes later as Ffion Morgan got away down the right but her dangerous cross evaded all those in the middle.
Morgan and Jamie-Lee Napier combined well shortly before the interval as they broke from a United corner to win City a corner of their own, Brooke Aspin heading over from that set-piece.
The Robins' first real chance came less than 10 minutes into the second half as Ella Powell set Morgan away down the right, the Wales international dinking a cross back for Amalie Thestrup whose back-heel dropped for Shania Hayles to strike against the post.
A matter of minutes later, Napier got away down the left but her ball to the back post evaded Thestrup before rolling agonisingly wide of the upright.
With eight minutes to play, City were reduced to 10 as Napier's late challenge saw her booked for a second time.
The hosts would add a second in the eight minutes of stoppage time at Leigh Sports Village, Naalsund volleying home her second of the afternoon from a corner.
