Mel Johnson and Ffion Morgan were on the scoresheet in the second half but, despite coming back from 1-0 down, they couldn't take all three points from the game against the Black Cats.

🧐 BACKGROUND

Head Coach Lauren Smith made three changes to the side that lost 3-1 to London City Lionesses at the Robins High Performance Centre last week with Lia Cataldo, Naomi Layzell and Jesse Woolley coming into the side in place of Ella Powell, Maddi Wilde and Aggie Beever-Jones.

✍️ WHAT HAPPENED?

Despite a few chances the Robins couldn't find the back of the net in the opening stages and it was the hosts who opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Keira Ramshaw. The Sunderland captain headed in from close range following a free-kick on the right.

Morgan looked to put her side level when she lined up to take a free-kick on the left but her attempt was well blocked by the Sunderland wall.

The Robins then had a flurry of chances but failed to work Allison Cowling in the Black Cats' net before Megan Beer tried her luck from distance but shot over the bar.

Minutes later Morgan nearly found an equaliser when the ball fell at her feet from a Chloe Bull free-kick on the left but her shot went just over the bar and out for a goalkick.

Very late on in the first-half Murray was inches away from getting on the scoresheet as her headed attempt from a Morgan corner on the left hit the bar and Brooke Aspin couldn't fit the target on the follow-up.

⏱ HALF-TIME

The Robins came out flying in the second half, scoring inside the first five minutes through Johnson. The City No.9 put the scores level with a header from close range following a Morgan corner on the left.

Sunderland top scorer Emily Scarr was close to putting the hosts in the lead again but her shot sailed over the bar.

Morgan then put the Robins ahead when she fired the ball into the back of the net after reacting quickest to a rebound from Chloe Bull's attempt.

With just over 10 minutes to go the hosts found an equaliser when Jessica Brown headed the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Despite a frantic last 10 minutes neither side could find a winner.
