Willie Kirk’s side enjoyed plenty of possession but fell further behind on the half-hour mark when Yeovil skipper Ellie Curson looped a shot over the stranded Caitlin Leach from 20 yards.

City continued to press deep into the second half but could not find a breakthrough to set up a nervy finish for the home team, with Haynes unflappable in the Yeovil goal.

The result saw the Glovers leapfrog the Vixens into second in WSL2, but City have the chance to bounce back at struggling Sheffield on Sunday before embarking on a four-week break from league action.
