The 17-year-old defender has been sidelined for six months after being treated in hospital for an infection back in September. A prolonged period without any football followed for the centre-back, who slowly but surely made her back to full fitness to re-join her teammates on the pitch ahead of the run-in.
The defender was introduced as a 67th-minute substitute as the Robins hit three past Durham on their way to victory - Gracie Pearse, Grace Clinton the scorers as well as own goal.
Aspin spoke of her delight to be back on the pitch and her appreciation of her teammates and the City staff to get her back where she wants to be.
“It was absolutely unreal. I don’t quite think people know all the hard work you put in unless you have an injury like that,” said Aspin.
“I couldn’t have done it without any of the staff or my teammates - people talk about your team being your second family and I know that now more than ever.
“I thought it was my time to shine again. I’ve been out for six months and I’ve been waiting for this moment for absolutely ages. I wouldn’t wish what I have been through on anyone else - now is my time and I’d like to this I did a job.
“It felt amazing and I can’t thank may teammates enough. The messages I’ve been getting, the phone-calls and the support I’ve had in the gym and on the pitch has been amazing.
“I’m hoping to get some more minutes in before the end of the season and some big tackles as well, so we’ll see.”
