Hannah Buckley appointed CEO of Bristol City Women.

Bristol City Women FC has appointed Hannah Buckley as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

She will officially join the club on Monday, June 15th ahead of the 2026/27 Barclays WSL 2 season, taking over from interim CEO Lowri Roberts.

Buckley brings with her extensive national governing body and professional women’s football experience, having worked at the WSL Football for the last eight years during significant transformation in the game. She has led major moments across the women’s game, including the recent sell-out Subway Women’s League Cup Final at Ashton Gate Stadium. 

Bristol City Women Board Director and Mercury13 co-founder Mario Malavé said: “We are delighted to welcome Hannah as CEO of Bristol City Women. She brings strategic vision, operational excellence and deep knowledge of the women’s game. As we continue building for long-term success, her leadership will be key to shaping a club ready to compete at the highest possible level for years to come.

“I also want to thank Lowri for the fantastic job she has done leading the club through a critical period. Having already given so much to Bristol City Women, her leadership and commitment have been invaluable. She will always be welcome back at Ashton Gate.”

Bristol City Women Board Director Lisa Knights added: “We are really pleased to welcome Hannah to Bristol City Women as she is ideally placed to take on this role.

“Her experience with both the FA and the WSL will be invaluable for this exciting new era under the leadership of Mercury13.

“I am looking forward to her joining the team at the Robins High Performance Centre ahead of what promises to be a busy summer.”

Buckley’s extensive work across the game has been pivotal to the growth of the sport in England and its state-of-the-art facilities.

Buckley said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Bristol City Women and Ashton Gate Stadium during my time with both the FA and WSL. It is a club with huge ambition and one which has such a proud history in women’s football.

“I am delighted to take this step into club football and excited to work with Mercury 13 and the board to achieve our collective goal of promotion back to the WSL and developing the next generation of talent in the region.

“We have a big summer ahead but it will be an exciting one.”
