Beard praises squad mentality.

“It was a rollercoaster, and it was emotional,” he said.

“The biggest thing that has pleased me is that we have gone behind, we’ve got level and gone in front, been pegged back again and then found the winner and seen out the game.

“We have done a lot of work over the last couple of weeks about momentum and what we can and can’t control.

“I said to the group before the game that they’re good players individually and collectively - they’re one on the best groups I have worked with in terms of their togetherness.

“If we are to stay in this division it’s not going to be about technical ability, it’s going to be about their mentality. Tonight, we showed everything, commitment, heart and desire.

“We were also very smart in different situations and for me that’s massive.”
