Fran Bentley has signed a new two-year deal at Bristol City, keeping her at the club until the summer of 2027.

The goalkeeper arrived in the West Country in 2021, initially on a season-long loan before signing permanently in the summer of 2022.

Bentley began her career at Manchester United and spent time at Manchester City before returning to the Red Devils.

Loan spells to Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers would follow before arriving on a season-long loan in BS3.

While on loan at City, Bentley kept a then club record of 10 clean sheets and collected the club Young Player of the Year award in her debut season.

Following a hugely successful season, the young goalkeeper then signed a permanent deal at Bristol City.

The 23-year-old played a significant role in the Robins’ 2023/24 title-winning season, captaining the side, playing every league game, earning the Championship Golden Glove and the club’s Players’ Player of the Year award.

On signing her new deal, the goalkeeper said: “I’m buzzing to have signed a new deal and extend my stay here. I feel at home here, the fans are brilliant, so I’m delighted to agree to another two years.

“I have enjoyed my journey so far and have had so many great memories. Hopefully, we can build on last season and create some more at Ashton Gate."

Chair Gavin Marshall added: “We’re delighted to keep Fran here for two more years. She’s a fantastic goalkeeper and a vital part of the team.

“Fran’s wealth of experience is extremely valuable to the squad and has been a fan favourite since joining the club. I’m excited to see her continue to grow in a City shirt.”
