Bristol City Women have partnered with experts from Nature Positive and Bristol City Robins Foundation to protect and raise awareness of local biodiversity.
Their victory in last year’s Pledgeball League earned them a package of environmental services from Pledgeball partner, RSK, to be developed with the local community.
This included a visit to a local primary school by biodiversity experts from the RSK environmental consultancy, Nature Positive, which took place earlier this week.
Nature Positive experts and the Bristol City Robins Foundation visited Ashton Vale Primary School to teach students about the importance of protecting local wildlife. Through hands-on activities, students discovered Bristol’s rich natural heritage and discussed ways to strengthen biodiversity in and around Ashton Court Stadium.
The visit contributes to ongoing efforts to embed sustainability across Bristol Sport. This includes the award-winning Project Whitebeam, which earned Bristol City Football Club the prestigious EFL GreenCode accreditation.
Peter Smith, Head of Change and Sustainability at Bristol Sport, praised the event:
“This is about inspiring the next generation to care not only about sport in the city but also about enhancing the nature and wildlife that make Bristol special.
"We want fans to celebrate our local heritage on and off the pitch and protecting our green spaces is a big part of this.”
The collaboration has inspired young fans to consider their own role in protecting the environment. With support from Nature Positive, RSK, and Bristol City Robins Foundation Bristol Sport is helping to bolster Bristol’s green spaces and tackle climate change head on.
