International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Bristol City Women have their own achievements to celebrate after winning promotion back to the top flight at the end of last season. The team are now back in full training ahead of their SSE Women's FA Cup clash with Millwall Lionesses at the Stoke Gifford Stadium on Sunday, March 19th before taking on Reading in the opening game of the Spring Series at Ashton Gate at the end of April.
International Women's Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action - whatever that looks like globally at a local level. But one thing is for sure, International Women's Day has been occurring for well over a century - and continue's to grow from strength to strength.
