Brown was a regular in Oxtoby’s starting eleven throughout the 2018/19 campaign and the defender’s new deal sees her enter a sixth season with Bristol City Women after joining from Hibernian Ladies in 2014.
The Scotland international plays a vital role in the engine room of the City Women team, which saw her feature in all twenty Barclays FA Women’s Super League games last season.
Brown’s versatility has been praised by Manager, Tanya Oxtoby after the 31-year-old was deployed across the back four, as well as in central midfield throughout the 2018/19 season.
“We’re really pleased that Frankie has decided to stay again this season and she is going to bring so much to group both on and off the pitch, said Oxtoby.
“Frankie’s ability to be really flexible in the position she plays, whether that be right-back, centre-back or midfield, combined with her football intelligence to be able to play those positions is really difficult to find in today’s game.”
Brown said: “Tanya was a big factor behind me signing a new contract this summer. I’ve really enjoyed playing under her and last season she transformed the team and how we play, it was a brilliant year with the squad surpassing all expectations to finish sixth.
“Bristol City is a really unique club that gives chances to younger players to play at a high level and take responsibility in big games, it’s great to be involved with that and to be a part of the development of the young core at the club.”Frankie Brown
“We need to use this season as motivation and a platform to push on from so it’s not just a one off.
“The disappointment of missing out on a place in the Scotland World Cup squad was another reason behind deciding to stay. I played well last season and really enjoyed it so I didn’t want to finish on a disappointing note, I want to come back and have another great season.
