City’s Championship campaign continues with a first home game of the season at the Robins High Performance Centre against Lewes this Sunday (September 5th, 3pm KO).
The midfielder is also eyeing a first win after last weekend’s narrow 4-3 defeat at Crystal Palace, but she has big plans as the team looks to make the RHPC a fortress this season.
“We didn’t get off to the start we wanted, we wanted a three-pointer but we’re really excited to come here and play on unbelievable facilities, it’s an unbelievable ground and hopefully we can play our football and get three points on the board,” Palmer told Robins TV.
“We want teams to come here and be scared, not be easy to play against and for us to play them off the park.”

And Palmer addressed her pride on being captain adding: “It’s a challenge which I really enjoy. I hope we can get back to where we belong in the WSL in front of fans and Sunday will be really good. I’m really proud, it’s not something I expected so I’m working my socks off to get us up this season.”
Head Coach Lauren Smith had earlier praised the travelling supporters as they were back in the stands to watch City at Hayes Lane last weekend, and there’s excitement brewing as they get to pack the RHPC against Lewes this weekend.
“We’re looking forward to having fans back and having them behind us,” Palmer continued. “We’re grateful for them and we can’t wait to put things right in front of the home fans and there’s nothing better than being able to do that.
“They (Lewes) have been in the Championship a long time. [In pre-season] they caught us on the counter-attack but we know what to expect now, we know how to improve and we have to learn lessons from the last game and really push on.”
Supporters are encouraged to head to the Robins High Performance Centre this Sunday to cheer on City Women in their first home game of the Championship season.
Buying a ticket for this weekend’s game will also see supporters automatically entered into a draw to win a behind-the-scenes tour of the Robins High Performance Centre, with one other person able to accompany them.
