Bristol City are delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen Kirby as the club’s new Women’s Head Coach.

Kirby joins after two years as a Coach at Women’s Super League side Leicester City, having previously also been Assistant Coach for the men’s Under-18s side.

Chairman Gavin Marshall said of the appointment: “We are really pleased with the appointment of Steve.

“His coaching pedigree, his reputation in the game and his vision for taking this team to the next level really stood out during a thorough recruitment process.

“We also want to say a massive thank you to Loren Dykes and the staff for doing a great job of managing the team over the past three weeks.”

The 39-year-old joins City on a two-year deal and will be in charge for the Robins’ trip to London City Lionesses on Sunday, September 22nd.

Head of Women’s Football, Romaney Pinnock added: “We had a lot of impressive candidates for the role, but Steve was the standout and we are looking forward to working with him.

“We know the potential of this group and it is an exciting time for the football club.”

The new City Head Coach said he is excited to get started.

He said: “It is super exciting, and I am ready to kick on and try and get us back to the WSL.

“I have watched both games so far and I have been impressed with the performances. It is a club which fits my style and how I like the game to be played. I hope we can now get us firing on all cylinders.”
