City Heroes join Foundation Matchday celebrations.

City Women celebrated the Robins Foundation at Saturday’s home fixture against Liverpool Women FC.

The Foundation Matchday was a celebration of Community Heroes, those who go above and beyond to support our local community.

Free exclusive Robins Foundation capes were given to junior supporters to be part of the celebrations.

Here’s what happened during the action packed day:

  • There was a trophy presentation of the Foundation’s Community Heroes; Helen Bell and Lola.
  • Spot kick heroes – a pre-game penalty kick activation involving City mascots Red and Robyn
  • A pre-match pitch parade from the Foundation’s associate teams; Bristol City Cerebral Palsy FC, Bristol City Deaf FC, Bristol City Down Syndrome FC, Bristol City Frame FC and Bristol City Panthers FC
  • Bristol City Cerebral Palsy FC and Down Syndrome FC teams played on the pitch at half-time
  • Supporters took part in an interactive penalty kick game on their smartphones
  • Fans showed their generosity by donating to the Foundation in the concourse, online and via text messaging

Robins Foundation CEO Dan White said: “The Foundation would like to say thank you to everyone who came to support the Foundation Matchday.

“It is always wonderful to recognise, reward and thank those who provide support in the local community and our Community Heroes are deserving of recognition for their crucial work.

"It was great to see Ashton Gate swarming with City Heroes proudly wearing their capes and joining in the celebrations.

“The donations from fans are important and it will help us to deliver the community programmes and projects that support the most vulnerable in our community.

“The club have always shown tremendous support for the work the Foundation does and we thank them for their continued support.

“Our staff are all community heroes, who are doing a fantastic job in the local community, making a real difference to the lives in our city.”
