Confidence is key for Purfield.

The 23-year-old was at the heart of City’s first meaningful attacks in the game and provided two key passes for the Robins’ opening goals.

First, the nightmare for any centre half to face, a low driven into the danger area skipped up off the wet surface, and was turned in by Georgia Robert of London Bees.

Just two minutes later Purfield created the second, her deep diagonal ball into the box found Logarzo are the far post, who headed home for her first goal in City colours.

It was a great night on an individual level for City’s summer recruit, but the all round team performance was the most pleasing aspect for the full-back.

“It was a good night for us. We knew we had to take confidence from the game, we had to get on the ball and be confident on the ball,” said Purfield

“It was a good team performance and we’re pleased to get the win ahead of the weekend.

“It was really nice to be able to get forward and overlap, and contribute at the other end of the pitch. It was brilliant for us to get goals on the board and gain some confidence.

“We had a lot of the ball, which is different compared to our first three games where we’ve had to sit in, so it was great to get forward and be creative, and most importantly put the ball in the back of the net.”

The Robins welcome Aston Villa to Twerton Park on Sunday, October 11th (2pm) as attention swiftly turn back to the Barclays FAWSL.
