‘Consistency in performances is key’ – Baggaley.

The Robins have picked up two points from their last two Barclays FAWSL games after draws against Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham City.

Contrasting first and second half performances in both contests have prevented City picking up more points and Baggaley knows only a complete performance will suffice against the Gunners.

“We have had good patches over the last couple of games and shown a lot of character,” she said. “However, we’re still searching for a 90-minute performance and playing the way we know we can for the duration of the match.

“On Sunday, we wanted to come out and start the game well because we know we didn’t in the previous week against Tottenham. We did that but we let ourselves down a bit in the second half and got away from what was working for us.

“We know we’re going to need to take our game to the next level this weekend.”

It’s tightening up at the foot of the Barclays FAWSL table and recent results have seen the Robins lift themselves up to 10th in the league standings.

City last met Arsenal back in October, when the Gunners ran out 3-1 winners at Borehamwood and Baggaley believes the much-improved Robins can push the former champions all the way on Sunday afternoon.

“We’re in a difficult position, however we’re in a much better position than we were two weeks ago. We’re on the up, it’s now about us continuing that momentum and hopefully we can pick up more points and have other results go our way,” said Baggaley.

“When we played them [Arsenal] last time round, it was probably our best performance from the first half of the season so we know we can compete against them.

She continued: “As a team we have progressed massively since the first half of the season and if we’re all on our game we can really test them on Sunday and hopefully get something from the game.”

Confidence and momentum are two key factors for any team if they are to get results and Baggaley insists City possess both as they get stuck into the business end of the season.

“We’ve just got to look at the performances we have been putting in on the pitch. The level of training and performances are improving all the time, we have got to take confidence from that.

“There is no let up as we head into the last few games of the season. We have got to consistently play well, perform throughout the remaining games and pick up points.”
