Debut delight for Skeels.

It was honours even at Twerton Park with little to separate the two side until the seventieth minutes as a short corner routine allowed Ebony Salmon to whip a dangerous ball into the box for Skeels to head into the back of the net.

The 19-year-old was named in the starting XI after arriving less than a week ago on deadline day from Reading and has made an instant impact.

“I can’t believe it! It’s something that I have always dreamed of, getting to a cup final so I can’t believe it has happened now,” said Skeels.

“I don’t really know what happened! I didn’t even see the ball go in the net and then people were just running towards me and celebrating, it was a great moment.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game tonight. We put a lot of work in during training to make sure we were ready, and we knew we were going to have to dig deep if we were to get to the final.”

The debutant put in a Player of the Match display at the back for City as she partnered Gemma Evans to a second successive clean sheet for the Robins, and City’s new signing was delighted she could help put her new team into the final at Vicarage Road.

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to come in and help the team in any way I can. We all wanted to get over the line and get ourselves into the final and I’m delighted I could help the group achieve that,” she added.

“It’s massive for us. This could be a huge confidence boost for us moving forward. Coming in I could see how hard everyone is working to make it become a reality and this could really help us push on - we’ll give it our all in the final.

“Everyone has been so supportive since I have come in and I have loved being round all the girls – they’ve been great.”
