Dykes agrees new deal.

The City Women skipper continues to lead by example as she embarks on her eleventh season with the club and she was a rock at the back for her side throughout the 2018/19 campaign.

Last season also saw Dykes reach a century of international caps for Wales making the full-back the second most capped Welsh player behind, Jess Fishlock.

Bristol City Women Manager, Tanya Oxtoby praised the full-back’s leadership qualities and described the skipper as irreplaceable.

“I think that Loren epitomises everything that Bristol City is about. Having her on board for the coming season is integral to any success we’re going to have, her leadership on and off the field is vital and the quality she brings is irreplaceable, said Oxtoby.

“We’re very similar in certain ways and we’re very different in others. I think we’ve really worked out how to get the best out of each other and I think that comes from a mutual respect for one another.

“I have got so much admiration for what she does both on and off the pitch, we couldn’t do what we do without her and she makes my job an absolute dream."

Dykes is excited about what the future holds for the club after City Women recorded their highest ever finish in the Barclays Women’s Super League (sixth).

“I’m delighted to have signed for another season at Bristol City, said Dykes.

“I have been involved in previous changes at the club and I can safely say that we’re making huge forward strides both on and off the field, and I want to continue to be a part of what we’re building at the club.

“We’ve just had a great season and surpassed expectations, so we need to use that as motivation to push on further and hit the ground running, especially with strong teams getting promoted to the league.

“The WSL is getting more competitive year on year and what Tanya is building at the club will give us the best chance to cement ourselves as an established Women’s Super League club for years to come.”
