Bristol City Women's FC player, Kaylan Marckese, shared the importance of inclusive teams and community projects after she joined Bristol City Panthers at their weekly training session.
“It was awesome to come down to the Bristol City Panthers training today, just to really see first hand what they do to create an inclusive environment.
A big reason that I became so passionate about football is because you can have people come down and be part of a group that’s supportive and wants to have a good time together. It was so clear tonight that everyone feels comfortable with each other and I’ll be back for sure.”
Kaylan was interested in hearing about he journeys that members of the team had gone through, with several expressing that they had not played football before attending Panthers training sessions due to not feeling comfortable or welcomed by other teams.
Bristol City Panthers FC is an associate team of the Robins Foundation that focuses on being an LGBTQ+ inclusive space. The team plays in the second division of the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN) league and is open to everyone, regardless of gender, sexuality, or experience.
