Jodie Hutton’s first City goal - scored direct from a corner - proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Dripping Pan.

The City coaching staff made seven changes with Sunday’s Barclays Championship showdown against London City Lionesses in mind, with 11 of the matchday 23 either products of the club’s Regional Talent Centre programme or Academy setup.

“It was hard work in the end with the changes we made coming into the game,” said Foster

“We grafted, showed a lot of character and what we are about as a team to play the way we did for 90 minutes and even manage when we went down to ten.”

“We can never fault the togetherness of the team - it’s something we expect week-in, week-out. We were resilient right the way to the end after going one-nil up early on in the first half.’

The game’s only goal came on the half hour mark as Jodie Hutton wrapped her foot around the ball to spectacularly score direct from a corner.

“We’re very decisive from our set-plays and her (Jodie) delivery is phenomenal. We’re not surprised she scored her first goal from a set-piece, even if it was direct from a corner!”
