DR BIKE

Fans cycling to the game against Chelsea can benefit from free minor repairs to their bike to ensure it is roadworthy and running smoothly.

The Dr Bike scheme, in collaboration with Bristol City Council, will take place at the stadium cycle racks behind the South Stand turnstiles from 12pm.

A qualified cycle mechanic will work before kick-off and throughout the game to work on as many bikes as possible on a first-come first-served basis so fans wishing to take advantage are encouraged to arrive early.

Each bike will receive up to 30 minutes of TLC. The mechanic will perform safety checks and carry out essential repairs such as fixing breaks, mending punctures and tuning gears. The team will also give you a ‘prescription’ with details of any larger works which need to be taken to a local bike shop for full repairs.

Ashton Gate has 96 cycle parking spaces and a free to use bike pump behind the South Stand. To see cycle parking locations and plan your bike trip to Ashton Gate please click here.

SELF-DESTRUCT CUPS'

‘Self-Destruct Cups’ are in action at Ashton Gate Stadium. The cup is designed to be recycled but unlike other plastics, if it is leaked into the environment it will turn into an earth-friendly wax within two years – leaving no toxins or microplastics.

There are also convenient bins located around the stadium. Play your part and segregate your waste!

  • Red bins across Ashton Gate are for clean plastic waste only. Please place your empty cups (including self-destruct cups), bottles and other plastic in these
  • White bins will be for non-plastics only. This waste will be segregated off-site and recycled where possible with any non-recyclable materials converted into energy

RUCKSACKS

Ashton Gate Stadium asks supporters not to bring large rucksacks on matchdays, following advice from the National Counter Terrorism Office and Avon and Somerset Police.

Fans will still be able to bring smaller handbags into the stadium, although these will be subject to the usual search process.

An Ashton Gate spokesman said: “The searching process will always be subject to change and whilst there is no specific threat to any Sports Ground, we must ensure that we remain vigilant and the message to spectators is to ‘Be Alert not Alarmed’."

SAFETY AND SECURITY

As a reminder to Bristol City fans we would like to state that the use of smoke bombs, flares and pyrotechnics is strictly prohibited. Any of our supporters found in possession or setting off a pyrotechnic device (or such methods) will be subject of a minimum three year ban from Ashton Gate and any conviction at court will result in a football banning order for all grounds for three years.

If you see or hear any racist, homophobic or any other abuse around the stadium, please report it to our text line: 07770 736 047.
