Favourite film & why?

My favourite childhood film was definitely Monsters Inc because I loved the characters, especially young Mike haha and it was just a funny family film...it’s a film I would watch anytime. However, of late the best film I have seen is A Star Is Born. I loved the story line and thought the acting was class, and it had me in tears at the end. But typically my favourite genre is comedy so can’t go wrong with classics like Step Brothers or Bridesmaids.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?

I loved visiting Canada and exploring Vancouver island as my Auntie lives there. I’ve also travelled to many states in America as I lived there for 3 and a half years. Some of my favourites were LA in California for the beaches, New Orleans in Louisiana just because it’s like no other place I’ve visited, and Phoenix in Arizona because of the many beautiful hikes you can do. They’re all very different but all interesting in their own way.

Favourite City?

I’d have to say New York as a holiday destination. It was such an incredible place with so much to see and do, but it isn’t somewhere I would choose to live because of how busy it is. I also love Hull as it’s where I’m from and there’s simply no place like home!

Role Model growing up & why?

David Beckham & Rachael Yankey - I was a fan of how both of them played and their attributes, especially their crossing ability. They both worked hard and I admired their attitudes towards football. I just loved watching them and aspired to be like them as I developed and got older.

Favourite meal?

Steak and chips. There is nothing better than a medium cooked steak with chunky chips from a nice steakhouse. My childhood favourite tea was ‘Bangers and Mash’ with gravy of course haha. I still love that meal too.

Nickname?

Jem or JP. Nothing too fancy but think JP is easy on the pitch because it’s short and quick to say. When I was younger a few people called me mini Purf as my brothers nickname was Purf, but I’ve grown out of that one haha.

Best Player you have played against?

Probably Karen Carney. Think she’s a quality player and that is highlighted by all the trophies she has won in her career, all the England caps she earned and the teams she has played for, complimented by her goals and assists.

Career highlight so far?

Captaining England youth teams was definitely such a proud moment for me and a career highlight. There’s no better feeling than leading out the team and hearing the national anthem play. In addition, signing my first professional contract was special. It was a dream come true, but it was only the start of my career, so I’m excited for what’s to come.

Banger for the changing room playlist?

From current music it would have to be Head & Heart, Joel Corry. I love that kind of upbeat music before going out for a game to get me going. If it was to be a sing along I’d say Sweet Caroline. Always been a banger that everyone can join in with!

Best life lesson you have received?

That when things are tough and not going your way, never give up. Hard work always rises to the top, so be positive and work harder than everyone else and believe in yourself no matter what.

Any advice you would give your younger self?

Never forget why you started playing the game...because you love it. Always play with a smile on your face and focus on your own journey because everyone’s is different but you’ll end up where you’re meant to if you work hard and stay focused.
