Favourite TV Show & why?

I am not really a telly person but I do like some nature documentaries or a BGT would make me happy too! Nature documentaries are just so interesting and I like to know more about our planet, and I love animals so yeah that’s probably why!

Where is your favourite place to go on holiday?

I loved visiting Norway and Canada, anywhere there are mountains, lakes and wildlife I will go! I love exploring.

Favourite City?

I have great memories in Leuven, I lived there for 7 years in my student time, being independent for the first time, playing football for the city, exploring abandon places, having a laugh and a drink with friends. Yes, Leuven for sure.

Who was your Role Model growing up & why?

I did look up to two Belgian woman players when I was a little kid. Femke Maes and Kristel Verelst. There were both playing for the national team that time and Femke even played Champions League I remember. They opened my eyes that anything is possible as a little Belgian kid.

Favourite meal?

I do love an English roast these days! But a traditional Belgium applesauce and mash potatoes are better than anything else.

If you weren’t a footballer, what do you reckon you would be?

I have been a zookeeper and I loved working with animals, so something similar would be perfect. I like to be outdoors, so let's say any job outdoors but no offices.

Nickname?

In Belgium my nickname is Dany but in England, it is more Yans (because I think they struggle pronouncing my name sometimes).

Best Player you have played with?

Jill Roord. I played with her in Twente and you just knew she would make it far. She has the technique, reads the game and finishes so easily.

Career highlight?

Two occasions are popping in my head straight away. The Euros with Belgium was the most memorable one of my career, definitely after being injured for a long time, still really grateful for an experience like that. Another one was my first Champions League game with Twente against PSG, I never forget how nervous I was.

Banger for the changing room playlist?

I am rubbish with music bangers… really rubbish. I like quite chill and peaceful music, so that would be turned down straight away. Let’s give Florence + The Machine a go with Dog Days Are Over, hopefully it makes it to the chorus.

Best lesson you have received in life?

It goes quick. So quick. So enjoy it and do what you like to do! And if something isn’t as fun as you like, it is only temporally, there are so many more good days than bad. Be kind.
