Bristol City Women’s FC star, Shania Hayles joined students from Evergreen Primary School to discuss the importance of Black History Month and shared her experiences in life.

Shania joined the pupils from years 5 and 6 during their stadium visit to Ashton Gate - as part of the Foundation’s Premier League Primary Stars programme - on Thursday, October 12th.

The forward joined in with a PE lesson, took part in a workshop and followed it up by fielding questions on the black role models she had growing up, the challenges she's faced in her career and giving advice to the next generation.

“Black History Month is an important time of year for us to be able to highlight and celebrate diversity in the schools we work in", said Robins Foundation Primary Stars Lead, Dan Hall.

It is really important for us to recognise, honour and celebrate the contributions of black people to our society and learn about some of their stories.

Today, we had the pleasure of hearing from Shania about her experiences in both football and life, including some of the challenges she has faced and overcome.

It was a brilliant opportunity for our students to learn from her as a role model and be inspired. We're so grateful to Shania for sharing her time and story with us today.”
