Shania Hayles opened the scoring in the first half before City were pinned back just minutes later.

Grace Clinton and Ffion Morgan then sealed the victory as they both found the net within three second-half minutes.

"That means a lot to the group and the staff as well," said Smith.

"It’s one we’ve been waiting for for so long and the tension was there beforehand, but I knew this group could pull that out whether it was nice, ugly or resilient.

"I had full faith we’d come up with a good performance.

"We’ve gone gone from a game where we had all of the possession at the weekend to tonight where, particularly in the first half, we had very little but still managed to work our way into the game."

Attentions now turn to Lewes as City will hope to see in the international break with a victory.

"It’s time to party now for five to ten minutes but attentions will turn quickly to Lewes at the weekend," the Robins boss continued.

"I know tonight was a top-of-the-table clash but as we saw at the weekend, anybody can take points of anybody which is kind of the story of this league.

"We have to refocus and putting everything into Sunday."
