'I'm back where I belong' - Palmer.

The 19-year-old left Bristol City for Manchester United in the summer of 2018, however after one season at the Red Devils and a loan spell at Sheffield United, she returns to Bristol where she’s looking to make her mark in the Barclays FAWSL.

“I played in the Championship last season on-loan at Sheffield United and I think I made a bit of a mark there, it's just important to me to just be myself, play the best I can and hopefully that can do the talking itself,” said Palmer.

“My main focus is the team and how well we can do, win games where we can, but as an individual I’m going to just play the best I can and see where that takes me.”

The midfielder made her WSL debut in the 2017 Spring Series, coming off the bench for the Robins against Reading FC and for Palmer, the decision to return to Bristol City didn’t require much debate.

“Obviously I know the culture and the way things work around here, as a city it’s amazing as well. For me it was unquestionable, and it was somewhere I really wanted to come. It was an easy decision for me.

“Yeah, it feels good [to be back at Bristol City]. It feels like I never left, but I’ve had two years out and I’ve become a better person and a better player so I’m glad to be back where I feel I belong and hopefully give something back to the team."

The England U21 international was also enticed at the opportunity to work under manager Tanya Oxtoby, who played a big part in Palmer choosing to sign for City.

“There were a few players I spoke to that had worked under her previously and they had nothing but good things to say about her which definitely helped me.

“I thought they had done a really good job whilst I was away from the club, so I think as a young player and seeing how she helps develop young players made it an easy decision for me.”
