Bristol City’s pioneering matchday experience will take another step forward when fans will be able to drink alcohol in their seats for women’s first team home league games at Ashton Gate for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The club are taking part in a pilot along with three other women’s football clubs and venues - Birmingham City (St Andrews Stadium), Newcastle United (Kingston Park), and Southampton (St Mary’s Stadium) - to allow alcohol to be consumed in view of the pitch.
The pilot will be implemented for the second half of this Barclay’s Women’s Championship season, starting at the game against London City Lionesses on Sunday, January 19th (2pm kick-off).
The Robins have been praised for their innovative approach to the fan experience, from the Thatcher’s Apple Roll and junior reporters, to drummers, DJs and concourse activations, and last season saw an average attendance of 6,987 at Ashton Gate - the fifth highest in the Women’s Super League.
Bristol Sport CEO and Bristol City Women Board Chair Gavin Marshall said: “We are right behind this pilot and looking forward to seeing how it goes for the game against London City Lionesses and getting feedback from supporters. The pilot will be implemented for the second half of this Barclay’s Women’s Championship season and include the following games:
