Six City Women players have been rewarded with international call-ups, ahead of the international break next weekend.

England

Lexi Lloyd-Smith and Jess Simpson have been called up the England Under-23s squad for fixtures against Germany and France, marking Lloyd-Smith's first call up to the group.

Lexi Lloyd-Smith made her England Under-23s debut in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Germany at the Bescot Stadium on Thursday night, while Jess Simpson was an unused substitute.

They will now travel to Stevenage's Lamex Stadium on Tuesday, February 25th to face France (7.30pm).

Homegrown Mari Ward has also been called up for the Albir Garden Tournament in Spain, with England's Under-19s.

Lauren Smith’s side fell to a 2-0 defeat again Spain on Thursday, with Mari Ward starting the game, before taking on the USA on Sunday, February 23rd (3pm).

The final game will then be against the Netherlands on Wednesday, February 26th at 11am.

Wales

Ella Powell and Ffion Morgan are both in Rhian Wilkinson's Wales squad for the start of their Nations League campaign.

They fell to a narrow defeat at the Stadio Brianteo in Monza against Italy on Friday, with Ffion Morgan joining the action as a half-time substitute. Up next is a meeting against Sweden in Wrexham on Tuesday February 25th (7.15pm).

Northern Ireland

Jackie Burns has also been called up to the Northern Ireland senior team.

Tanya Oxtoby's side open their Nations League campaign, which is linked to 2027 World Cup qualifying, in Gdansk on Friday, February 21st, with Jackie Burns playing in the 2-0 defeat against Poland.

They'll now face Bosnia-Herzegovina, at Inver Park in Larne on Tuesday, February 25th.
