The Robins, who have a game in hand on their opponents, sit three points behind in the race for pole position, with all still to play for in the second half of the season.

Palmer and her side will be looking for a response following a stalemate at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday afternoon, while Nikita Runnacles secured victory on her first league game as interim boss.

“We’re ready to go,” said the midfielder. “We didn’t get the result we wanted on Sunday but having this game so close gives us a really good opportunity to put things right straight away.

“We’ve spoken as a team and we know that everyone is going to bring their A-game against us so we need to find new ways to win.

“It’s going to be a tough one but it’s one we’re ready for. We were ready to face London City before and we’re even more ready now so we want to go and get those three points.”

City, who spent much of the first half of the campaign at the top of the pile, now find themselves hunting down the league leaders.

“There’s no shying away from the fact that it’s an important game but we’re together as a group and you can see that on and off the pitch,” Palmer continued.

“It’s a game of football at the end of day and it will come down to who wants it more.

“We know what they’re going to be like. They’re the team at the top of the table but now we’re the ones chasing. Everyone has always said we’ve had a target on our backs but now it looks like they have.

“It’s a big one for everyone involved and every player and every member of staff has done everything they can to prepare us as best as possible.”
