The Robins captain netted City's third goal with a wonderful strike into the bottom corner from a free-kick just outside the box.
And speaking to Robins TV, Palmer said: "It wasn't a pretty performance but throughout the season we have shown we can win pretty and battle and that's what we done today.
"It's not the prettiest for the fans to watch but we've got it over the line and that's the main thing.
"The international break always seems to come at a bad time for us when we're on a roll so I think it was really important to get that win today. We have got a lot of important games coming up so it's important to keep the momentum and keep going."
On scoring another set-piece goal, Palmer added: "Me, Jen (Foster, First Team Assistant Coach) and Chloe (Bull) worked at that on Friday so I knew what I was doing and where I was going. It's nice that it has come to fruition.
The City skipper also spoke about what they can take into their next game against Lewes as well as how much she enjoying the leadership role this campaign.
