Job Vacancy: Women’s Designated Safeguarding Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with Senior Safeguarding Manager (SSM), manage all issues relating to Safeguarding of all RTC, Academy and First team Players.
  • Ensure the strategy for Player Care provision for all players complements the Clubs’ Performance Plan (APP) and its player development activities whilst maximising the opportunities to realise the potential of each player.
  • Ensure all staff have the relevant, and in date, qualifications for their role with up-to-date DBS and safeguarding training.
  • The RTC & Academy teams safely and properly induct new players to its development program, catering for individual and specific needs.
  • There is a joined up, comprehensive and smooth process for exiting players from the RTC, Academy and women’s teams.
  • The RTC, Academy and Womens team is able to safely support the mental & emotional well-being of all its members through the training of its staff and provision of activities and support for its players.
  • The RTC, Academy and Womens teams ensure the protection of the player’s right to equality, diversity and inclusion through regular review and the creation of confidential routes to raise any concerns.
  • Contribute to the Life skill training programme provided by the RTC and Academy supporting all its players growth to become self-sufficient and independent, in both their general lives and in dealing with the specific pressures of being a professional footballer.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Hold Safeguarding qualification at level 2.
  • Be able to work as part of a team, but also lead on own initiative
  • Be flexible to the dynamic nature of the Club
  • Ability to form a positive and supportive relationship with elite young athletes
  • Have empathy and be encouraging to developing others 
  • Have an open / growth mindset
  • Be an honest, clear communicator 
  • Recognise the need for confidentiality at all times
  • IT literate, across all required platforms
  • Previous experience in Player Care, Safeguarding with young people. working with young people in an Education or pastoral setting.

Desirable

  • Hold EFL Safeguarding qualification (this can be completed when in post).
  • Previous experience of working within football setting.
  • Previous experience of working with elite players in an educational setting
  • Experience of the PMA
