Wales international Carrie Jones has signed for the Robins on a permanent three-year contract from Manchester United.

The forward, who turned 20 at the beginning of the week, spent last season on loan with Leicester City and featured heavily in their Barclays Women's Super League campaign.

Her career began with Cardiff City Ladies in 2019 and it was during this spell in the Welsh capital that she earned a senior debut for the national team, stepping off the bench in a 6-0 win over Faroe Islands. She has since made 20 appearances for her country, scoring twice.

"I'm really happy to be here and I can't wait to get started," said Jones. "It's exciting to be part of a team that's been newly promoted so it's a privilege to have signed.

"I've worked with Lauren previously when I was at Cardiff so having the chance to play for her again is a really exciting opportunity. I'm really grateful to know the Head Coach already because when you walk into a new team and a new environment it's very refreshing to have a friendly face.

"I'm very lucky to know a few of the girls too having played alongside Ffion [Morgan], Ella [Powell] and Liv [Clark] with Wales and they've been really lovely and welcomed me into the group."
