The midfielder lands in the West Country after completing a Division1 collegiate soccer scholarship with Florida Gators.

“I’m excited to get going with Bristol City Women ahead of the new season,” said Kuyken.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to return to club football in England and gain valuable experience at senior level in the Championship, which will be great for my development.

“Lauren (Smith) has been clear in what she wants to achieve this season and how she sees me contributing to the team – it’s a challenge I’m very much up for.”

Kuyken made 27 appearances for the Gators across her two-season spell Stateside, scoring one goal.

The former Arsenal Academy graduate made her first team debut for the Gunners in 2017 at the age of 16 in the FA Continental Cup. She made her WSL debut later that season against Liverpool in 2018 and she would go on to make 10 first team appearances for the North London side.

The 20-year-old has also featured heavily for the young Lionesses during her career representing the U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 age groups.

Speaking of her second arrival, following the signing of Chloe O'Connor, Head Coach Smith said: “Ava is a talented and hardworking young player, who has great potential.

“Our environment here at Bristol City Women will allow her to develop and she will be a great asset to have at the club for the upcoming season.

“She has the potential to perform at the top level and after a couple of seasons of development both on and off the field over in the US I feel she can make a real impact at Bristol City.”
