Lauren's Notes - Leicester City.

Hello and welcome to the 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League season.

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Willie Kirk, his staff, players, and the supporters of Leicester City who make the trip to Ashton Gate on Sunday afternoon.

And to our fans, more than 7,000 of you saw us win promotion in this stadium just over six months ago, and we can’t wait to get back out there for the start of an even bigger challenge.

Your support last season was excellent and we’re going to need to hear you at all our games this season too because each of you has a role to play as we venture back into the top flight.

Looking back to when I first returned to Bristol City as Head Coach proves a stark reminder of how far we’ve come. We’re back in the WSL and Ashton Gate is our permanent home - we want to keep making great strides and prove we’re not here to make up the numbers.

Our top priority this summer was to keep hold of players that helped us achieve promotion, and it was so pleasing to secure those signatures so soon after the end of the campaign.

We wanted to keep this group together because we’re like a family, which has helped massively with introducing new faces into the squad.

We’ve welcomed seven new full-time staff and nine new players to the club, and while the longest off-season that any of us have experienced has presented challenges, it’s given us time to form great bonds on and off the pitch.

Now it’s time for the moment we’ve been waiting for. Get behind the team and play your part in helping us start the season on a high.
