Hello and welcome to our second home game of the 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League season.
Thank you for your support on the road at Tottenham and Manchester City and before that at the Leicester City match. To have more than 4,000 of you at Ashton Gate was amazing and Sunday will be another level with over 10,500 tickets sold.
It means so much to the players and staff to have so many of you cheering us on and we really want to give a good account of ourselves.
We knew it would be a tough start to the season and every game would be a real test.
The second half of the games against Manchester City and Tottenham showed that we can compete and I was proud of the way the players dug in and kept at it.
What we can’t afford to do is to be a one-half team, especially at this level with the quality of players in the WSL, so we need to make sure that we are at our best for the 90 plus minutes.
It does take time to gel but the new recruits are settling in well and hopefully we will be able to welcome back some of our injured players before too long.
This weekend we welcome Jonas Eidevall and the Arsenal staff and players to Ashton Gate.
Our challenge is make sure that we convert our opportunities into real chances and then goals and to make sure that Arsenal don’t capitalise on the possession they will have.
Thank you again for getting behind the team.
Enjoy the game, COYR!
