Lauren's Notes: Aston Villa.

08 Jun 2026BCW Media Team

Hello and welcome back for our meeting with Aston Villa.

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Ashton Gate to Carla Ward, her staff, team, and the fans who have made the trip down from the Midlands.

Last time we played here at home it was a special occasion and, despite narrowly coming out on the wrong end of the result, it’s a night I’ll remember for a long time with a record attendance record for a Bristol City Women’s game of 12,008 – thank you for that incredible support.

That game also felt like a big moment in the context of our season because it was a performance to be proud of, and we’ve proved that by backing it up with our first win of the season and another impressive display away at Arsenal in midweek.

Now, after a positive international break followed by back-to-back away games, we’re all looking forward to getting back down to Ashton Gate for this one.

We saw on Thursday how the crowd can play their part because Meadow Park is a tough place to go, but we now have to make sure that our home is a difficult place for Aston Villa to come too.

Today’s visitors also haven’t had the easiest start to the season, so this feels like a great opportunity to continue the progress we’ve been making in recent weeks and get some more points on the board by the end of the afternoon.

So let us hear you from the stands, get behind the team and we’ll give it everything to get another positive result.
