Centre back Gemma Lawley has signed a two-year deal at Bristol City.

The 22-year-old joins the Robins having been at Birmingham City for the past seven years.

She made her Women’s Super League debut for the Blues at just 17-years-old before signing her first professional deal.

Head Coach Charlotte Healy said: “Gemma is a solid defender with Championship experience and will add quality to the squad.

“I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Lawley said of the move: “Bristol City is a very ambitious club, and having Ashton Gate as our home ground is a massive selling point.

“It’s a great stadium to play at, and hopefully, it can be filled out as much as possible with Bristol City fans, and I can’t wait to meet them all.

“It’s been a long off-season, but I feel like I have prepared very well, and I can’t wait to get started.”
