The Robins return to Barclays Championship action this weekend after three consecutive cup competition fixtures, most recently cruising past Oxford United to progress into the Vitality Women's FA Cup Fifth Round.
Lauren Smith's side got 2023 off to a winning start in the league as they beat Coventry United thanks to two stoppage-time strikes in mid-January, the following weekend's meeting with London City Lionesses getting postponed due to a frozen pitch.
That makes it three wins from four in 2023.
Rovers, in contrast, have just one win in eight and come into this weekend's meeting on the back of a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.
🆚 OUR OPPONENTS: BLACKBURN ROVERS
Formed: 1991
Stadium: Sir Tommy Finney Stadium, Bamber Bridge
Nickname: Rovers, The Riversiders
Manager: Gemma Donnelly
Finish last season: 10th
Blackburn Rovers have had a season of ups and downs thus far, winning three, losing four and sharing the spoils on a further four occasions.
Winless in their last five, and having played just twice since the turn of the year, Gemma Donnelly’s side will be desperate to reverse the result from when the two sides met back in August at the Robins High Performance Centre.
Leading the line, Saffron Jordan ranks among the best in the division for her goal tally this season, sitting joint top of the charts Sarah Ewens, Emily Scarr and City’s own Shania Hayles.
However, that is where their attacking threats seem to expire, Rovers scoring only four goals outside the efforts of their markswoman.
Defensively solid, the Rovers' backline haven’t been easy to break down this season. At the heart of their three central defenders sits six-foot Jade Richards who provides a set-piece threat at both ends of the pitch.
