Southampton are a familiar opponent for the Robins with the two sides having met at St Mary’s Stadium last season in the Fourth Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. That January afternoon belonged to the Saints, who progressed into the quarter-final of the competition after an extra-time winner from Ella Morris.
The Robins and Saints also played against each other in September when Ffion Morgan’s effort was cancelled out by Beth Lumsden for a share of the spoils at Ashton Gate.
Saints have not lost since the opening weekend of the season - when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Charlton Athletic – and drew 1-1 with London City Lionesses last Sunday to sit fourth in the Barclays Championship.
Saints remain just two points off top spot in the second tier of women's football after scoring an injury time penalty to rescue a point against leaders London City Lionesses on Sunday, with Paige Peake stepping up to score the spot kick at Princes Park.
They have shown defensive strength with four clean sheets in a row against Birmingham City, Sheffield United, Sunderland and Coventry United in October and early November.
Head Coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale will miss the game due to family commitments.

When: 25.11.2022

City were held to a draw at Ashton Gate by Southampton in front of 3,637 supporters.
The deadlock was broken just shy of the half-hour mark by Ffion Morgan. Chloe Mustaki shifted the ball inside to the waiting Abi Harrison, who flicked the ball around the corner to the advancing Morgan and she coolly picked out the top corner.
City held their lead heading into the half-time break but it didn’t take long for the visitors to level the scores in the second period.
Just three minutes into the half, Ella Morris broke down the right wing and picked out Beth Lumsden with a sweeping cross into the box, and the forward made no mistake in placing the ball past Fran Bentley.
